Combining Elvis with Nirvana sounds like the perfect pop joke. A comedy, cartoon, band; like the Archies or Gorillaz.

In a society evolved to high brow reality shows of reality shows (Gogglebox anyone? really??)  and other such disposable, trashy, pointless, entertainment; perhaps the joke Elvana play really is on us.

Is it their intention to dumb down Nirvana or to make Nirvana accessible to the dumb?

Either way, they nail it.  Sufficient humour to take the edge of Cobain’s intensity, but enough soul to remind you that Nirvana stood for something. Something important.
