Rojor – Slipstream

Avoiding the usual, and all-too-obvious obvious, production expectations, perhaps the most interesting part of Slipstream is its ability to keep you engaged and surprised.

Moving inside of the most downtempo moments of Faithless, and wrapped up in minimalist piano loops and hand clap drum patterns, where most similar tracks would end up bursting into the big moments of hands-in-the-air electronic euphoria, Slipstream uniqueness is its ability to stay focused and maintain its relaxed, trip hop, stylings.

Narratively occupying a space not to unfamiliar with the ‘is this love, or something else’ space of The Police’s ‘Every breathe you take’ (‘right here in your slipstream, just two steps behind’) Slipstream may sonically be minimal but holds many complex ideas at the same time.  Both lyrically and musically this an end of the evening, slightly paranoid, suggestion of how good intentions aren’t always perceived that way – great work.
