44. The woven project.

Wrapping itself around you like a warm blanket, the first release in 12 years from Woven Project, ‘44’, sounds as you would imagine any first fragile steps of a new venture to sound like.  Gentle, deliberate and purposefully resistant, 44 uses distant/cautious piano layers to produce a record so carefully considered that it almost wraps you up with it.  Sitting somewhere inside the trip-hop moments of Nearly God, and the gentler pieces of Elbow, the dual wrap of vocalists Brian Batey and Jasmine Weatherhill blend together lovingly in a sound echoing the first touches of new lovers, or the slow movements of nature in spring.  In more than one way 44 is the sound of the tentative first steps of a new relationship.  Lovely.
