Sitting somewhere between the 50s acoustic-throwback of Richard Hawley, and the multi layered pocket symphony of Love’s Forever Changes, the new one from The Monochrome is nothing if not ambitious.  Centred through Andy Warren’s Mccartney styled, bouncy, bass patterns, Allhallowtide picks up an almost infinite number of instruments and compositional ideas, piecing them all lovingly together in a scintillating collection of songs woven together by lovely melodies and the poppiest of ambitions.  Summery in sound (Hello save me, Ballad of the flaming man), but flavoured by dark lyrics (Resplendent in a darkness), the overall result is a complex album that reveals itself more and more with each listen.  An incredibly ambitious album, allhallowtide takes complex songs and productions and makes them instantly accessible.
