Hiss Golden Messenger – Quietly Blowing it

So… well… imagine Prince lived through the twists and turns of the past year.   Then imagine he wanted to make an album about that period and that he wanted to strip everything right back to expose his more emotive vocals.  Then imagine he decided to give the album a country rock feel, but a one that was deeply rooted in soul and gospel but kept a hellish groove.  Quietly blowing it is just that.  Do yourself a favour and start this album at the standout, final, track Sanctuary, and play it forward from there; stopping as Way back in the Way back blossoms out of it’s acoustic start and wallowing the glories of Quietly blowing it and Glory Stums.  An outstanding mix of gospel, acoustic, soul and funk – all rooted with genuine emotion – the Purple one would love this.
