Fucked Up – Another Day

Feasting on the more optimistic sentiments of the hardcore genre, Toronto’s F*cked up quickly return after 2023’s One Day with possibly their most positive, and certainly their shortest, album to date.  Combining their love of fast, angry, bursts of punk aggression with the deftest blend of 80s polished fm-rock this side of Queen (so close to Queen that you’d think it was the Darkness at times) Another Day is the tale of a band who’s heart is always in the hardcore scene, but who’s head is searching for pop melody hooks and radio-friendly guitar lines.  Standouts ‘Face’, ‘More’ and ‘House Lights’ showcase a band intensely mindful of the importance of owning a growth mindset, yet never letting it get in the way of some serious guitar shredding.  It’s as surreal as it sounds.  But it’s excellent.
