Shambolics. 23.12.23

With a mix of ‘next big thing’ promotions and comparisons to greats (Libertines and View), it could have proved too much for high-energy-rock-n-roll outfit Shambolics when pulling their debut together.  Thankfully any pressure seems to have missed the band as ‘Scruff’ arrives with rollocking indie/rock smothered in distortion and full-of-confidence swagger.

Combining minimalist bangers (Attention and Everything you should’ve done) with gentler moments (Daily Dosage), ‘Scruff’ is a triumph debut for a band with genuine attitude and devil-may-care ethos.

Anomaly Tambourine Tam stands out with it’s Digsy’s Diner/ out-of-context-on-a-debut style and combination of The Specials, The Sweet and Beach Boys party.

Whether the future brings Libertines and View styled blow outs and bust ups remains to be seen; but let’s enjoy what we have while we have it.
