Lost Horizons – In Quiet Moments

Commenced in the aftermath of a bereavement it’s perhaps not surprising that In Quiet Moments has the ambience of a musical partnership searching for solace through music; locking themselves away in a studio to spend hours building up layers of carefully conceived musical patterns.

Absolutely breath-taking in places (Tim Smith collaboration ‘Grey Tower’ and Penelope Isles feature ‘Halcyon’), Quiet Moments succeeds by collecting a universe of sounds and rhythms, mixing them with a diverse portfolio of collaborators, and creating a multi layered collection songs which hang together through consistent experimentalism and love for pop melody.

Moving across genres in a collection of songs which link the out of this world abstraction of the Flaming Lips (Every beat that passed) with the high-concept-art of the Velvet Underground (the seven-minute, multi-tracked vocal of John Grant’s Cordelia) this is a masterpiece of concept, design and execution.
