Basia Bulat. Are you in love?

Are you in Love bridges two conflicting creative thoughts with one superb theme. On the one side the desire to produce up-beat, mature, pop that wants us heading to the nearest dance floor in rapturous joy; on the other an ambition to provide moments through which we can share deep reflections about heart-break and struggles in making it through another day. Demonstrated perfectly in the one-two knock out blow of Electric Roses (the introspection) and Your Girl (the toe-tapper) Bulat puts forward two characters; one uncertain and achingly soulful, the other the life and soul of the party. Moving in similar circles to Lissie’s Wild Wild West and Fleetwood Mac’s Tango in the Night, Are you in Love is achingly ambitious with glorious guitar/piano driven melodies full of The Mac’s rhythm section and multi tracked, dreamy, vocals. Superb.
