A game of two half’s this one; the first perhaps the greatest bluesy-pub-rock tunes since Dr. Feelgood. The second, a struggle to keep up such an exceptional momentum.
Kicking off with an unbelievably strong opening three tracks, the recently reunited (original) line up pull out all the stops in their 60s r n’b/ blues styling to leave (virtual) sweat dripping from the walls with their full-frontal attack of upbeat, good time, blues rock. ‘Let’s do it again’ and showstopper ‘A little more time’ could both compete for the greatest pop moments of 2021. Unable to maintain the quality across the album, ‘A little’ still ends up winning comfortably but perhaps not as the flawless article it started out as.
