Are you interested in supporting local comedy and being a talent-spotter? Do you believe that your perception of comedy is the one worth listening to? Then maybe ‘The Sketch K.O. Show’ is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for to make your opinion count!
Performed at Newcastle’s Alphabetti theatre, and directed by the theatre’s award-winning artistic director Ali Pritchard, Sketch KO is an evening for 10 local comedy sketch writers to create and perform short moments (less than 4 minutes) of comedy gold in front of an anticipating audience. Set inside a friendly-competition environment, the show is positioned as a ‘battle’ with the audience deciding not only on the running order of the evening, but also on the eventual winner; a prize which nets the ultimate winner the title of the undisputed heavy weight sketch of the North East and a professional recording of their sketch. Imagine if the sketch you chose went on to become a viral video which launched the career of a new North East based comic!?
Coming it at great value for money (£5), and providing the opportunity to watch interesting/diverse comedy performances from a range of experienced comics, Sketch K.O may be the most interesting comedy show in the North East this Christmas. Based heavily on audience participation, and decided entirely by crowd feedback, the show, if nothing else, might be the perfect tonic in reminding you that your opinion not only counts, but can make a huge difference.
