Geist. Swarming.

With rumours abounding of a UK election later this year, it appears that Geist may have already stolen the moment.  Conjuring up the despair for previous elections (perhaps the “not another one!? surrender of Brenda from Bristol) Geist’s standout track “Election Day” feels like an attempt to squeeze all of the angst and frustration with modern day politics out into a two minute and twenty eight second bomb track.  A perfect synopsis for the album, ‘Election day’ is relentless, angry and unrepentant and in such light goes some way to create music from the chaos that often surrounds modern living.  Bleak in places (“Silent Hive”), heavy and experimental in others (“Unnatural selection”) ‘Swarming’ combines metal with hardcore to produce an album that is unpredictable and raw.  Swamped in pain and anger this may well be the perfect soundtrack during an election season.
