Following up from recent tours focusing on music from Radiohead and Pink Floyd, the “Let Me In” collective return to the live scene with another musically and vocally challenging focus – Kate Bush.  Set inside of a UK Cathedral tour, the “Let’s” tonight perform in Newcastle Cathedral – an almost perfect setting for the deeply spiritual, deeply seasonal, movements of Mrs Bush; the large space and high-ceilings acting as a unique setting to focus on the lush harmonies and musical complexities of her 40-odd-year musical output. 

Built out of a 10-piece band, accompanied by the Mike Nowland String Quartet, the magnificence of tonight is how the collective move through the Bush catalogue in a chronological, yet cleverly arranged, fashion – opening with the debut The Kick Inside and moving right up to 2005’s Aeria.  Though the ‘greatest hits’ produce moments of awe and wonder, it may be ‘The Ninth Wave’ suite, taken from Hounds of Love, which sparkles the loudest tonight; the 10 piece building and building the intensity of the 7 tracks – teasing out the cinematic, almost religious, undertones of Bush’s artistic focus.  It’s magnificent. 

Kate Bush is rightly regarded as a true artist who connects deeply to the many moods of our world – what a fantastic job Let Me In did to replicate that in such a unique setting.
