Cate le bon. 15.10.25. Glasshouse

Floating in like she’s just arrived from Ziggy’s spaceship, Cate, and her five-piece band, take the highbrow art route tonight as they perform as part of their current UK tour. Decked out in androgynous, glam, gear and performing on a well decorated, slightly Halloween themed stage set up, the combined six piece are visually stunning as they perform in sharp suits with razor cuts; this is no grungy jeans-and-a-t-shirt-performance, this is a well staged, precise, performance which requires little time or attention for audience pleasantries.  The Le Bon’s are not playing to the gallery, or trying to fill other people’s expectations, this is serious art by serious artists.  Situated inside of some stunning songs (“Is it Worth it?”, “Jerome”) the power of Le Bon’s live musical show comes through in the staging of the live shows – double and triple guitars in places nicely supported by single and double brass in others – all combining to lift Le Bon’s exceptional vocals higher and higher into focus.  Some artists use their personality to light up the stage, others as exemplified tonight, put on a show so bright nothing else apart from the art is needed.
