Watson and the Elements. 7.8.16. As you like it.

The soul rebels of Watson and the Elements burn with a fierce pride.

Supported by a tight (well-arranged) band, frontman (Bryan) Watson has a foundation on which to use his voice to reposition classic tracks; shifting the focus from lovely pop to meaningful soul.

If there is a real purpose to soul music then it’s surely to illustrate the tension between a dream and a reality; the intensity of the longing for the thing that should change your world. Sung correctly, soul music should make you understand the singer far better perhaps than the singer understands themselves.

In your face, gormless, ‘I will fix you’ pseudo emotional music this is not.

This is complex, meaningful stuff.

With a fantastic back beat.

Great show.
