Cherie Currie. The Globe. 14.11.15

11

The last 2 decades have almost made a mockery of rebellious music set to radio friendly sounds.  Pop punk? Pop junk more like.

Even weed smoking 1D have something of an edge on Busted, Mcfly, 5sos and the current crop of manufactured playthings with guitars.

Step froward original teenage pop rebel miss Currie to show the world how it’s done and to play tracks with purposeful meaning and edge.

Still blonde, still small and still (seemingly) angry she bursts into the Globe with age defying energy, pose and precision.  Loud cheers for classic Runaway hits and even louder cheers for a ‘fuck off’ to former band mates who didn’t like ballads.

It’s good to see that old habits die hard.
