Given how well Lights Over Vegas play, it’s hard to believe that this is the collectives first show together after a three year, self-imposed, hiatus.
Hip, virtuoso and seriously funky, The Lights produce a combined sound that is equally as danceable as it is reflective. New recordings and an obvious seriousness to the show suggest that tonight is no warm up, or transitional, event; rather this is a band re-energised, refocused and back with a clear vision of who they are and who they want to be.
Wrapped up in uptown grooves and deep licks, lights provide the perfect accompaniment for Watson and his deeply soulful, highly personal, vocals. Interspersed with classic soul hits, and the traditional encore of ‘lets get it on’, tonight is an ideal opportunity to showcase new material and remind people that Lights are one of the strongest blue eye soul bands around.
Let’s hope it’s not another three years
